The Rules of Running

The Runner's Rule Book is a gem of book that will appeal to all kinds of runners.

About 4 years ago a friend of mine convinced me to run a half marathon with her. I agreed for some crazy reason although I had never run more than a mile in my life and was quite certain running 13 miles would make my legs fall off. The even crazier thing is that I actually began to like running, once I found out that my legs would not actually fall off though sometimes they would feel that way, and I haven’t stopped since.  Being a bibliophile I also must read all about running. I have read a lot of books on running but there is one that I love. The Runner’s Rule Book: Everything a Runner Needs to Know-And Then Some by Mark Remy is a hilarious yet very enlightening reference guide to the everyday rules of running such as how to act, look and talk like a runner but more importantly how to avoid looking like an idiot. These are just some of the things I learned.

“you’ll encounter runners who choose to do things differently than you do them. You will want to show each of these people the light. Resist that urge.”

A rule that I think everyone should follow all the time in every aspect of life.

 Rule 1.20

YOU MAY SAFELY SKIP ICE BATHS

Thank God.

 Rule 1.36

RUNNING ON THE BEACH IS OVERRATED

I wish I had read the book sooner but unfortunately I learned this rule myself.

 Rule 2.32

DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO FINISH AHEAD OF A COSTUMED RUNNER

Easier said than done. That guy in the cow suit was really fast.

Whether you are a newbie runner or have been running your whole life I think you will find this book entertaining and informative. Now I just need a Golfer’s Rule Book.
