Up and at 'em, Charleston! Here's everything you need to know to get this Wednesday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy and breezy. High: 53 Low: 29.

Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:

  1. A driver crashed into House of Brews in West Ashley, then drove away late on Monday night. A Charleston County deputy located an unoccupied vehicle that may have been involved in the crash by following a trail of motor oil and glass from the business to Hawthorne Westside Apartments on Ashley Crossing Drive. The business reported significant damage to the front of their building and has said they will reopen on Wednesday. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. The Charleston County School District will be offering pay raises and bonuses for substitute teachers of all levels. Depending on the substitute's degree, they can earn anywhere from $130-150 per day. The rates, which went into effect on Jan. 10, will last through the end of the school year. (WCBD News 2)
  3. A Charleston officer's quick actions have been credited with saving a man's life. At 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, Charleston Police Officer Kyle Skeels arrived at the North Bridge after the man called family members and told them he was going to jump from the bridge. Skeels tried to talk with the man, and as he began to climb over the railing in an apparent attempt to jump, the officer grabbed him and pulled him back over the railing to safety.
