Here are the top stories today in Charleston:
- A celebration of burgers and a fundraiser for Charleston Animal Society is starting today. Charleston Burger Week is a weeklong celebration of burgers from Nov. 10-16 featuring participating bars and restaurants from all over the area. Just visit a participating establishment and ask about the Burger Week special. (Charleston City Paper)
- Elbit Systems of America, LLC, a provider of products and systems focusing on sectors including defense, homeland security, and commercial aviation announced plans to establish operations in Charleston County. A new facility for the company is expected to be operational by the fall of next year on Palmetto Commerce Parkway in North Charleston. The project will create approximately 300 new jobs with a $380 million economic impact expected. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- The City of Charleston is hoping to get $6.7 million through a FEMA grant to go toward a project designed to reduce flooding downtown. (Live 5 News WCSC)
