Here are the top stories today in Charleston:
- Polls across the city were open until 7 p.m. on Election Day yesterday, where several Charleston-area local elections were on the ballot. This year, voters were asked to decide on three contested Charleston City Council races in the Downtown Charleston, James Island, and West Ashley districts. Incumbent Charleston City Councilmen Dudley Gregorie, Kevin Shealy, and Mike Seekings ran for reelection unopposed. (Charleston City Paper)
- A traffic altercation on Calhoun Street yesterday morning led to a shooting in downtown Charleston and a campus-wide alert at the College of Charleston. The driver of a gray sedan fired a shot at the driver of a moped after the altercation and fled the scene. No injuries were reported and police are now searching for the gray sedan. (WCBD News 2)
- The union representing dockworkers at South Carolina's ports is seeking the Biden Administration's help in resolving a dispute related to a new Charleston shipping terminal. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- On Tuesday, North Charleston Police Department's K-9s got a special visit from two local children, who brought some treats for the police dogs and then got to meet and play with them. (ABC NEWS 4)
- The Charleston Symphony has launched an Inclusion Fellowship Program that aims to further its "action-driven approach to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts." (holycitysinner.com)
