Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- As temperatures drop, Charleston County is opening several warming shelters for residents beginning tonight. Locations include Remount Rd. in North Charleston, Savannah Hwy. in West Ashley, and Coleman Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant. All three shelters will open at 7:00 p.m. and close at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. - After a two-year hiatus, the Lowcountry Voices choir finally returned to the Saint Matthew Baptist Church for its annual Martin Luther King Commemorative Concert. The life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as those who lost their lives in the pandemic, were honored in the Saturday evening event. Choir director Nathan Nelson reports that the goal of the performance was to spread a message of hope, unity, and love. (WCBD News 2)
- The Charleston Police Department is investigating a Saturday afternoon shooting at a West Ashley apartment complex. When officers responded to the call at Pamilla Apartments, they found one person shot multiple times. The victim was taken to MUSC; information on their condition is not available. (WCBD News 2)
