Here are the top 3 stories today in Charleston:
- The Charleston Branch of the NAACP may be forced to move from its decade-long home because the landlord is looking for a new tenant. The first-floor office space at Columbus and Hanover streets went on the rental market on Nov. 29; the listing reads that the property is "currently under renovation and restoration and should be ready for move-in by Feb. 2022." Presently, the NAACP still occupies the office; NAACP president Dot Scott declined to comment. (Charleston City Paper)
- After a heartbreaking fire back in September, the Fort Johnson Baptist Church has come back stronger than ever. Pastor Marty Middleton said since the fire, worship has been taking place in the gym; however, members are engaging even more than before, and several new families have joined the church. The church could take anywhere from eight months to a year and a half to be restored. (ABC NEWS 4)
- A man and woman riding a motorcycle were killed in a Sunday night crash that left another motorcycle rider and a car driver hospitalized. At about 6:20 p.m., Charleston police officers responded to the three-vehicle collision on Magwood Drive that involved two motorcycles and a sedan. There was no word if any of the motorcycle riders wore helmets, or if the car driver wore a seat belt. (Hilton Head Island Packet)
