Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:
- The North Charleston Fire Department rescued several pets from a house fire on Friday. The crews reportedly rescued two dogs, two cats, a rabbit, and a snake from a home on Smoketree Lane. The American Red Cross is assisting two adults and a child that were displaced from the fire while the department investigates the cause of the incident. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- Charleston's Eastern European community is organizing a donation drive to collect supplies to support Ukraine. The drive begins today at 9:00 a.m. at 14 Sumar St. and continues throughout the weekend. A list of requested items has been shared on Euro Foods Facebook page. (Charleston City Paper)
- The popular Charleston Wine + Food Festival has officially started. The festival is in North Charleston's Culinary Village and attracts roughly 12,000 attendees with a $20 million economic impact being provided for the city. - A temporary Interstate 526 closure was caused by a vehicle fire and fuel spill. Thankfully, the Charleston Fire Department was able to clear the scene. (Facebook)
- The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce's Doing Business Better educates the community on how to use social media to grow their business. The event will be on Mar. 31 with registration currently open. (Facebook)
- The first book sale of the year is at the Otranto Road Library. The last book sale's last day is today from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Facebook)
