Here are the top stories today in Charleston:
- Officials with the Medical University of South Carolina say August and September saw the highest two-month total of children admitted due to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Across those two months, 74 children were admitted with COVID-19 related complications, making up 40% of all coronavirus-related admissions since the pandemic's beginning. Of those 74 children, 14 were on ventilators; none of those patients were fully vaccinated at the time of admission. (ABC NEWS 4)
- Drug dealers are preying on elderly tenants at Joseph Floyd Manor, raising alarms for residents and board members alike. The manor is a 70-year-old public housing structure servicing the needs of low-income seniors, overseen by the Charleston County Housing and Redevelopment Board. Since the beginning of the year, there have been more than 170 calls to 911, primarily for issues of trespassing, theft, and drugs. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- The North Charleston Police Department is looking for 16-year-old Nathaly Vazquez who was recently reported missing. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- This fall, Broadway's "Hairspray" will be stopping at North Charleston Performing Arts Center on their North American tour. (WCBD News 2)
