Here are the top stories today in Charleston:
- More than 40 city employees have filed a lawsuit against the City of Charleston, saying its COVID-19 vaccine requirement is unconstitutional. The city announced in early September that all its employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by mid-November. Plaintiffs include a mix of city employees, volunteers, interns, temporary workers, and outside vendors who say they want to "exercise control over their own medical treatment" and "are being forced to choose between their rights, privileges, and liberties as [citizens] and [their] employment, carriers, and financial futures." - An unidentified suspect is wanted after backing into a North Charleston storefront with a stolen SUV in an apparent robbery attempt. According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, officials responded to a call on Ashley Phosphate Rd. early Friday morning and found shattered glass and extensive damage to the front of the store. When deputies attempted to pull over the driver of the stolen vehicle, he sped off, later crashing the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Officials discovered the SUV was stolen on Thursday out of North Charleston. (ABC NEWS 4)
