Edisto Island is a vacation paradise, far from the madding crowd.

There is plenty to do here. The Plantation Championship 18-Hole Golf Course was designed by Tom Jackson and is ranked as one of the top 25 courses in South Carolina. Edisto State Park is a remote 1,255-acre sea island built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s that offers beach access and over 4 miles of nature trails amongst some of the tallest palmetto trees in the state. There is also an overnight camping area with campgrounds and cabins. One nature trail leads to where ancient Native American shell mounds, believed to be over 4,000 years old, rest. Botany Bay Eco Tours of rivers, marshes and beaches are available by motor boats or kayaks. The Edisto Museum displays myriad artifacts from the Civil War and Native Americans, among others. Edisto Island Serpentarium offers a large display of reptiles from around the world. Kings Market is a local farmer’s market of six generations that also has a petting zoo. Other things to do include plantation tours, historic sites, tennis, miniature golf, swimming, fishing surfing, bike rentals Vineyard tours, horseback riding, and much more.

There is a variety of homes on the island, from bargains in fixer-uppers to deep water mansions priced in the millions. There are also a number of master-planned communities on marshes, creeks, lakes, oak groves, and pine forests. You can find elegant oceanfront beach houses and rustic cottages. There are even a few condos near the beach priced as low as in the mid $20K!
