Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:

  1. The Charleston Animal Shelter has shared an adorable video of a Sundrops Montessori School student reading to a giant rabbit on Friday. The video was filmed during a storytime event that the shelter hosted. Students visited the shelter as part of the Read & Share Your Love program. (WACH.com)
  2. The region's first Electric Lawn Equipment Expo is on Apr. 30 at the West Ashley Lowes starting at 10:00 a.m. The event is being hosted by the City of Charleston and Charleston County in an effort to educate the community about the advantages of electric-powered lawn equipment. In 2021, the city announced a commitment to transition its lawn equipment fleet away from gas-powered models. (Holy City Sinner)
  3. The North Charleston Police Department joined with the community on Thursday night to walk for peace in the Pepperhill neighborhood. The walk was organized by Rebuilding Every Community Around Peace. The organization reportedly plans to hold more peace walks to bring awareness to the violence occurring in our community.   • As of Friday evening, Charleston's NOAA Weather Radio Transmitter is currently out of service until further notice. Residents can use 162.500 / 162.450 MHZ as alternate stations. (Facebook)
