Emergency Preparedness Expo set for July 30

Get valuable tips and resources to learn how to be prepared for any disaster

NORTH CHARLESTON - The Charleston County Emergency Management Department and the Lowcountry Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold the Fourth Annual Ready Lowcountry, Hurricane and Emergency Preparedness Expo, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday July 30 at the Lowe's Home Improvement store at 7555 Northwoods Blvd. in North Charleston.

First-responders, volunteer organizations and area businesses will offer survival tips, information and resources to help area residents prepare for any disaster. Covered topics will include preparedness, earthquake safety, fire, evacuation, home safety and business preparedness.

Informative and interactive displays set up by government, volunteer organizations and businesses will include: information for families, businesses and children on how to prepare for any emergency; an interactive kids area to demonstrate fire safety and other preventative tips; and displays from federal, county and municipal governments, volunteer organizations and local businesses to include rescue boats, fire trucks and more.
