Join us for a festive evening as Shibboleth unwraps an unexpected winter wonderland! Corts' pen & ink illustrations and Matsuda's found object assemblages play with the magic of the holiday season while taking unexpected detours into the darker side of winter.
Seth Corts' pen and ink illustrations tell southern gothic stories. His upbringing in Indiana farmlands and Appalachian mountains coupled with a childhood admiration of 19th century illustrators result in an artist who inks out scenes of love, homesickness, self-discovery, and death. Corts' meticulous lines unearth rich stories that seem to hover between times past and present.
Hirona Matsuda creates art with found objects that were once tossed aside but comprise surprisingly delicate assemblages under her touch. She incorporates such items as insect wings, blades of grass, rusted hardware and antique wallpaper to create miniature worlds. Matsuda will also exhibit ornaments that are scaled-down versions of her larger work – perfect holiday gifts for any art enthusiast!
Guests can enjoy Oak Barrel's craft beers and fine wines as well as winter-inspired treats. Admission is free. Valet parking is available on Magnolia Road.
