This is a beginning course in obedience training for dogs and their owners. The course is organized around three major areas where all active dogs need good behavior: 1) behavior when on a leash; 2) coming when called; and 3) social skills around other dogs and people. In addition to these three areas of focus, each dog-handler pair will work on one or two individualized objectives that are important for a happy-dog-happy-owner relationship in their daily lives.
Please note: this is not a course for reactive dogs, or dogs with serious behavior issues. These kinds of dogs need the help of a professional dog behaviorist.
This course is for the dog who has little formal obedience training, and/or who is reasonably obedient at home, but is easily distracted when in other places. The course is especially suited for dogs who may go on to take agility classes, rally obedience or other dog sports. We teach using positive reinforcement in a fenced outdoor location with several distractions.
