On September 18, 1895 DD Palmer was working late in his office when a janitor named Harvey Lillard was working nearby. DD relized pretty quickly that Mr. Lillard could not hear. Palmer had studied anatomy of the neck at great lengths and offered to help. He said that he "racked Lillard's neck so that he could replace a bone in his spine to its rightful position" and Harvey Lillard could miraculously hear again! With this small act, chiropractic was born.
