(Patch Media)

Hello all. I'm back with your fresh copy of the Charleston Daily. Here's what you need to know about what's happening in town.

First, today's weather:

A couple of thunderstorms. High: 83 Low: 71.

Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. The Food Truck Festival will be held on Saturday, Sep. 10 at Firefly Distillery in Park Circle. There will be 18 food trucks serving delicious local eats between noon and 5:00 p.m. Live music will be provided between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. (CHStoday)
  2. The Charleston County School District reports that 35 teacher positions are still vacant. The 2022-2023 school year is just 4 days away. The vacancies are focused on math, science, and special educational programs. The district hopes to bring the vacancy number below 30 by the start of the new school year. The district believes that low pay and poorly disciplined students are causing the teacher shortage. (WCBD News 2)
  3. Charleston-area physicians continue to urge parents to vaccinate their children in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year. The two biggest concerns are COVID-19 and Monkeypox viruses. According to the physicians, the best way to maintain your child's health is to get them vaccinated with all age-appropriate vaccinations. (Charleston Post Courier)
