Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:

  1. The United States Army Corps of Engineers Charleston District is conducting a survey of endangered whale species. The survey will look at endangered whale species off the coast of Charleston with an emphasis being placed on North Atlantic Right Whales. The greatest threats to the North Atlantic Right Whale are climate change, strikes by vessels, and entanglements with wire or fishing nets. (WCBD News 2)
  2. The Charleston Animal Society has announced a free pet vaccine event will take place on Saturday, Mar. 19 at the old Naval Base parking lot near the intersection of Noisette Drive. Attendees will notice the event through signs and congregated vehicles. The event is in celebration of National Pet Vaccination Month. (Holy City Sinner)
  3. Charleston's Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic will receive $79,000 from the Bishop Gadsden Community. The clinic serves roughly 450 uninsured patients each month. The donated funds will allow the clinic to expand its free medical services to thousands more who are in need throughout the Charleston area. (Holy City Sinner)
