Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:
- Trident Medical Center will begin construction on a new freestanding emergency room on James Island on May 2 at 10:00 a.m. The new eleven-bed facility will be located at 945 Folly Road. Emergency medical services will be made available to the public through the new facility 24/7, according to Trident Medical Center. (Press Release Desk)
- A suspected drive-by shooting in downtown Charleston has left a nine-year-old boy with a gunshot wound in his foot. The tragic incident occurred between Meeting Street and Morrison Drive. The Crime Stoppers hotline is currently taking anonymous tips related to the Monday night shooting. (Charleston Post Courier)
- Charleston's annual Fight Hunger Spark Change campaign will benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank. Participants can donate products purchased at Walmart or Sam's Club stores with the supplier donating towards the campaign as well. The campaign will be running through May 15. (fox28media.com)
