A great golf community and one of the premiere master planned communities found in Mount Pleasant, Snee Farm offers a wide selection of condos, villas and single-family homes. Ranging in size from around 1,000 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet, prices range from the $200s to the north side of $1 million.
A great package of community amenities includes a George Cobb designed championship golf course. Known for designing the outstanding par-3 course at Augusta National, Cobb’s course is laid out through a landscape of marshes, lakes and streams and plays host to the Rice Planters Annual Amateur Golf Tournament each year.
Another major amenity is the community’s tennis center that offers 10 hard surface courts and eight clay courts, each lit for play at night. The center also offers lessons and tennis leagues year round. Other amenities include swimming pools with swimming lessons and water activities available. The community also offers a busy activities program that includes cookouts, weekly mixers, bridge, bingo, trivia nights and other fun activities.
The community is built on the site of a plantation of the same name owned by Charles Pinckney, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and one of that document’s main authors. A distinguished soldier during the Revolutionary War, he also served as governor of South Carolina from 1789 to 1792 and later served in the Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
His Snee Farm home was one of the favorites of several he owned and was even visited in 1791 by George Washington. Pinckney’s contributions to his nation and state are remembered at the nearby Charles Pinckney National Historic Site.
Less than eight miles from the wide beaches of the Isle of Palms, the community is just 20 minutes from the world-class attractions of downtown Charleston. A central Mount Pleasant location means it’s convenient to schools, shopping, dining, healthcare and professional services. With Interstate 526 nearby, the community is also convenient to North Charleston, one of the state’s major employment and retail centers.
