Homes and Townhomes in Hamlin Plantation

Once, Confederate soldiers stood vigilant at Fort Hamlin. Today, some of Charleston's most elegant homes stand in their place.

Charleston’s past permeates the city. The ghosts of Revolutionary times and antebellum days mingle with current denizens and their spirit is very much alive. Once, Confederate soldiers stood vigilant against their Union counterparts at Fort Palmetto. Defending a vital section of coastline against the Union troops marching on Charleston, the fort was little more than a three-gun battery with two field howitzers and large cannon. The bravery of those soldiers was honored in WWII with two US Naval ships christened USS Hamlin.

Today, Hamlin Plantation looks out on Hamlin Sound and is the address for some of the most magnificent homes in Charleston. With a wide range of prices from the mid-$100Ks to the mid-$800Ks for single-family homes and elegant townhouses, the choices are many.

The subdivisions of Hamlin Plantation include:

  • A community of 75 upscale townhouses called One Hamlin Place.
  • Waverly features spacious, luxury townhouses 3-5 bedrooms, from 2,200 to 2,800 square feet.
  • The Sound offers custom homes of over 3,000 square feet, with some having deep water access and views of the Sound, Goat Island and the Isle of Palms.
  • Madison has a mix of homes, townhouses, and condominiums in sizes from 1,400 to 3,000 square feet.

The center of community activity is The Club with features a competition swimming pool, wading pool, and water slide. There are 6 lighted tennis courts and a large state-of-the-art fitness center. Miles of nature trails meander through some of the most unspoiled natural areas on the coast.
