Hooters of N. Charleston Hosts 93rd Birthday Party for Retired U.S. Veteran, Donald F. Belton
Hooters will honor decorated military veteran and former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher

What: Hooters invites local North Charleston residents to join in the birthday celebrations for retired U.S. veteran and former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher, Donald F. Belton. On Friday, March 27, the Hooters of North Charleston location will host a 93rd birthday party to honor Belton and pay tribute to his service.
Belton was officially discharged from the military on October 23, 1945, having served as a machine gunner and ammunition handler in a number of battle campaigns including the Battle of Normandy. He is the proud owner of several decorative medals, including the Purple Heart (wounded in action on Nov. 11, 1944), the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
“Pops” Belton was a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals with a batting average of .290. During his tenure, he also spent time playing professional baseball in California and Wisconsin.
