Here are the top two stories today in Charleston:

  1. A recent report indicates that approximately 78 percent of inpatient beds and 78 percent of intensive care unit beds in hospitals in South Carolina were occupied. These numbers come from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Charleston County. They measure the data from December 24th-30th and represent a rolling seven-day average. (Charleston Patch)
  2. Charlestown International and Charlestown Execute are set to receive federal funding for improvements. Congressman James Clyburn announced that South Carolina's airports will receive more than $32 million in federal funding with Charleston airports receiving over $7 million. The funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) passed by President Biden. (WCBD News 2)
