Indigo Palms in Windsor Hills Plantation

Indigo Palms is the newest subdivision of Windsor Hill Plantation, surrounded by American History with an eye to the future

To walk down the streets of Charleston is to step into history and walk with the ghosts of those who built America. With great effort and pride, the city has preserved much of their history and traditions in beautiful neighborhoods, while continuing to grow and thrive.

The community of Windsor Hill Plantation was once the home of the Revolutionary War hero, General William Moultrie. Upon hearing of the General’s dazzling defense of Charleston against the British on June 28, 1776, the Continental Congress signed and ratified the Declaration of Independence. He was taken prisoner by the British in 1780 and was, later exchanged for British General, John Burgoyne. General Moultrie went on to distinguish himself many times during the war and was elected Governor of South Carolina in 1785. Upon his death, he was buried at Windsor Hill Plantation in the family plot. Although he was later reinterred at Fort Moultrie, which was named after him, Windsor Hill Plantation remains a memorial to the great man.
