Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. The Charleston Farmers Market is returning on Saturday to Marion Square. The market will be open every Saturday starting at 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The market will close for the year on Nov. 26. Local farmers and artisans will be looking to sell produce, meats, cheeses, packaged foods, flowers, crafts, and various goods. Additionally, live performances will be at the market for attendees.   2. Charleston Fire Department is hoping to staff a new Johns Island fire station using federal grant money. The multi-million-dollar grant will be used to staff both an engine company and a ladder company. The new station is to be located at the intersection of Maybank Highway and Wildts Battery Boulevard with the station's FEMA funding application already being submitted. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  3. The Charleston County School District is looking to expand mental health services to aid more of its students. The district has been meeting each week to move mental health professionals between district schools based on the individual needs of each area. The district is searching for more bilingual counselors to assess the needs of undocumented students. (Live 5 News WCSC)
