Kiawah River Estates - Charleston

Built around the famed Oak Point Golf Course, this gated community is the community golfers dream about.

Kiawah River Estates on Johns Island is the gated golf community that avid golfers dream about. It sits blissfully peaceful and removed from the traffic and congestion of down town Charleston even though it is only a half hour away. The community surrounds the famed Oak Point Golf Course which has drawn critical acclaim as one of the area’s best courses in Golfweek Magazine. Residents share their neighborhood, happily, with a variety of indigenous wildlife including alligators, egrets, and eagles. Charleston Country Parks manages the 738 acre Mullet Hall Equestrian Center and Beachwalker Park on Kiawah Island, nearby.

Freshfield Village, only 3 miles away, provides the area with grocery, shopping and entertainment options and some the island’s finest restaurants. A half mile west of Freshfield Village is Bohicket’s Marina and Markets, a deep water marina featuring a variety of diverse shops and fantastic restaurants. Of course, downtown Charleston is just a 30 minute drive as well.

Construction began on the community in the 1990s. There are 365 homes and lots. Until recently it was known as Hope Plantation, homage to its history as a cotton and indigo plantation. Homeowners renamed the neighborhood after the Kiawah River, close by. There is an array of styles and a wide variety of prices for houses. The average home here is priced from $550,000 to $650,000 but some of the most elegant houses sell for well over $1 million. Lots sell for $199,000-$299,000.

Residents enjoy the private swimming pool, exercise room, community dock, tennis courts and golf at the public Oak Point Golf Course.

This beautiful community is the ideal place to live in a peaceful co-existence with nature or enjoy an active retirement perfecting your drive on the course or your serve on the courts.
