Here are the top stories today in Charleston:
- Food banks in the Lowcountry are feeling the impacts of higher food prices, especially during the busiest time of the year. Lowcountry Food Bank said they have seen a dramatic increase in need in the last two years. So far in 2021, they have distributed around 4 million pounds of food per month. The nonprofit is expecting to distribute 40 million pounds of food total for 2021. (ABC NEWS 4)
- The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the man who died Monday in an auto-pedestrian crash on Dorchester Road in North Charleston as Bobbi Jo O'Neal, 72. Previous reports said O'Neal was hit by a car early Monday morning. Police are still investigating the incident. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- For every letter to Santa dropped off at the special mailbox in Freshfields Village Shopping Center from Nov. 26 - Dec. 20, $5 will be donated to Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center. (WTMA)
