Morning, people of Charleston! It's me again, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Charleston Daily.
First, today's weather:
Plenty of sun. High: 65 Low: 47.
Here are the top stories in Charleston today:
- Major flooding in Charleston this weekend shut down roads and canceled events across the city. The harbor tide rose over 8 feet three times since Thursday, which the National Weather Service deems as an indication of a "major event." A highway ramp and multiple downtown roadways were closed on Saturday as a result of the flooding. The Charleston Veteran's Day Parade was canceled, as was the weekly farmer's market in Marion Square. (The State)
- The Charleston County Democratic Party held its annual Blue Jamboree on Saturday in North Charleston in an effort to "energize and motivate" local voters with food trucks, live music, and political speakers. Although the 2021 election just ended, local Democrats are already working on next year's voting campaigns. The party is hoping to lay the groundwork for wins in the 2022 races for South Carolina governor and U.S. Senate seats. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- HBO recently released a teaser for the upcoming season of The Righteous Gemstones, which was filmed primarily in Charleston this past summer. Locals will recognize scenes filmed at community landmarks like the Citadel Mall and the North Charleston Coliseum. The comedy series, which is entering its second season, stars Danny McBride, John Goodman, Adam Devine, Edi Patterson, and Cassidy Freeman. (WTMA)
