Here are the top stories in Charleston today:

  1. On Wednesday, Samuel Swim pled guilty to criminal solicitation of a minor in Charleston County. From 2019 to 2020, he had engaged in online conversations with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl. Swim was sentenced to five years in prison. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. Leaders are seeking public feedback through Oct. 15 for extension plans of the Mark Clark Expressway. The project is expected to add 9.5 miles and four lanes along with a bridge structure over the Stono River. Those interested can sign up to attend virtual public meetings at www.scdotmarkclark.com.   3. Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center was recently awarded a federal grant worth almost $2 million dollars. The Center stated the grant money will be used to advance trauma treatments. (ABC NEWS 4)
  4. Harold's Cabin in Westside has recently reopened its doors after an 18-month closure. It now features a new layout and innovative menu changes. (Charleston City Paper)
  5. The exhibit, Junk Drawer, an art show inspired by everyday objects, will open Oct. 1 at Meyer Vogl Gallery. (holycitysinner.com)
