  1. Charleston's mayoral candidates have posted their first fundraising reports for the upcoming Nov. 2023 election. The numbers provide a glimpse into which candidates are gaining support and which ones are floundering. Incumbent Mayor John Tecklenburg is leading the pack with over $170,000. Clay Middleton is behind the incumbent with a little over $70,000. City Councilman Peter Shahid is in the rear with $7,400. (Charleston Post Courier)

Brandon Lloyd Daniels was found guilty after a three-day trial. He was found guilty of committing robbery using force, discharging a firearm during a robbery, and possessing ammunition while a felon. Daniels' sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled. (Charleston Post Courier)
