Here are the top stories in Charleston today:
- McDonald's workers in Charleston are planning to go on strike, joining the wave of "Striketober" walkouts happening on Oct. 26th after complaints of sexual harassment, discrimination, and violence at the workplace. The walkout is planned to happen in 12 cities, demanding the fast-food giant to take accountability for "rampant" sexual harassment and violence against its workers. Charleston's strike is planned to begin at noon at 5950 Rivers Avenue. (WCBD News 2)
- Lowcountry community organizers put on a celebration at The Spot 47 to honor the revolution of the Black Panther Party that began 55 years ago this month. On Sunday night, the Charleston community and former Black Panther member Althea White honored the lessons and the foundations of the party. Attendees recalled that through the foundation of political organization, political struggle, and political education, justice, power, and community can be achieved. (WCBD News 2)
- A man has been accused of vandalism and stalking at a North Charleston home. (Live 5 News WCSC)
- A woman was found dead in her jail cell early Monday morning at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center. (ABC NEWS 4)
