Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- The Charleston Police Department is looking back at its response to the Palms Apartments fire that occurred last month. Officers recount how they did not initially think the fire was that bad but it quickly spread to multiple apartments while officers were waking people up. Officers had to forcibly enter apartments to wake sleeping tenants while the Charleston Fire Department attempted to control the growing flames. (ABC NEWS 4)
- The seventh annual hockey game memorializing fallen Deputy Joe Matuskovic is happening this Saturday. Deputy Matuskovic was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 8, 2014. Law enforcement agencies across the Lowcountry will be participating in the memorial game. (WCBD News 2)
- The South Carolina Ports Authority reports record-breaking container shipments last month. The port authority that includes the North Charleston Terminal handled 230,420 containers in February which is a 26 percent increase from last year. The ports are handling almost twice the number of imports than exports. (WCBD News 2)
