Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. The Charleston County Transportation and Development Department is allocating $16.1 million in federal funds for the Airport Connector Road at Charleston International Airport. The road was announced in 2013 but was delayed due to issues arising about land controlled by Joint Base Charleston. The new funds will be used to construct a five-lane road leading into the airport.   2. City Councilmember Peter Shahid has announced his campaign for Charleston mayor in the 2023 election. The council member will be running against incumbent John Tecklenburg. Other officials have voiced interest in joining the race but so far only Tecklenburg and Shahid have officially announced their candidacies. (ABC NEWS 4)
  3. The City of Charleston has released a new dashboard meant to educate the community on Charleston's affordable housing. The dashboard will make the 850 different pieces of information easier to access for the public. The information also covers other communities such as West Ashley. (Live 5 News WCSC)
