Here are the top stories today in Charleston:
- Three people are without a home and two dogs lost their lives following a fire in North Charleston on Wednesday morning. According to the North Charleston Fire Department, units responded around 3:10 a. m. to a mobile home fire along Dempsey Street. Crews reported heavy fire coming from the front of the structure when they arrived. (WTMA)
- The Port of Charleston has largely avoided the congestion that's forced container ships to anchor offshore until the Thanksgiving holiday. Vessels started backing up without a place to dock and as many as eight container ships were anchored off the South Carolina coast last weekend because of a lack of dockworkers and truck drivers to move their cargo. That has created a domino effect of ship delays that the State Ports Authority doesn't expect to clear until mid-December. (Charleston Post Courier)
- Charleston Police make an arrest after a deadly hit-and-run on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. (WTMA)
- Memories of loved ones live on at the Festival of Trees, which benefits Dragon Boat Charleston and its mission to support cancer patients fighting cancer. (charlestonmag.com)
