1. The Charleston County School District details their plan to use Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund money on raising Charleston students' reading abilities. The Interim Superintendent seeks to have all students reading at a 5th-grade level by 5th grade within the next five years. Currently, 50.8 percent of students are below their grade's reading level expectations. (Live 5 News WCSC)
2. HALOS has received two grants from The Duke Endowment. The generous grants will be used to support families who have been impacted by COVID-19 and to evaluate the HALOS Kinship Navigation Program. 3. The Charleston Fire Marshal is seeking the community's help in determining the cause of a massive fire at West Ashley apartment complex. The investigators are asking for those who have video or photos of the incident that occurred on Monday morning to come forward. Submissions will be anonymous unless specifically requested otherwise.
