Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. North Charleston Parks and Recreation is working to improve the security at Pepperhill Park. The new improvements are in response to an incident that occurred last month involving shots being fired in the park's parking lot during a youth baseball game. The department added four security lights, cleaned the brush area, and upgraded security cameras. (ABC NEWS 4)
  2. A Lowcountry task force is working to rid James Island Creek of harmful bacteria despite promising signals. The Charleston Waterkeeper recently announced that it is safe to swim in the creek after performing a seasonal water quality check. The bacteria is from faulty septic tanks along the creek's bank. (WTMA)
  3. The Charleston Police Department is investigating a recent incident involving dozens of cars racing at the Aquarium parking garage. The incident occurred on May 6. The department was alerted to the incident after local residents heard loud noises coming from the parking garage. Anyone with information regarding the incident is being asked to contact the department. (WCBD News 2)
