CHARLESTON - Hugging the banks of the Ashley River, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens spans several acres featuring ancient live oaks, a hedge maze, extensive gardens full of local flora, a petting zoo, a historic plantation house and slave cabins, a swamp garden and much more.

The Plantation, which predates the creation of the United States was established 1676, and is the oldest public garden in America, having opened its gates to visitors in 1870.

Located at 3550 Ashley River Road, the Plantation is open daily 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
