Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:

  1. Trident Medical Center plans to build a new hospital in North Charleston to relieve the recent surge in mental health patients throughout the region. The new hospital will provide 60 new beds with a completion date of early summer 2023. The new facility will reportedly offer both inpatient and outpatient services across all age groups.   2. The North Charleston Police Department reports that four people were shot over the weekend on South Allen Drive. The four victims were taken to a local hospital with one victim being pronounced dead at the hospital, two being released after treatment, and one still undergoing treatment. Officials with the department report that no suspect has been identified. (WCBD News 2)
  3. The City of Charleston experienced three days of record-setting weather this last week. The previous record of 82 degrees was set in 2018 with Wednesday's high of 86 beating the record by four degrees. The 86-degree weather held for three days leading into the weekend. (WTMA)
