First, today's weather:

Humid; a stray p.m. thunderstorm. High: 83 Low: 75.


Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:

  1. Heavy rains closed some roads across Charleston on Thursday afternoon. The roadways began flooding around 3:40 p.m. Drivers are reminded to avoid flooded roadways and to search for alternate routes through flooded areas. Click for a list of impacted roads. (WCBD News 2)
  2. The North Charleston Police Department is searching for a missing 16-year-old boy. Mayer Aymer Herrara Alvarado went missing on Sunday from Ridgebrook Drive. Investigators believe he may be attempting to get to Virginia to meet with his girlfriend. Anyone with information on Alvarado's whereabouts is asked to contact the department. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  3. Charleston's 11th Annual 9/11 Heroes Run is scheduled for Saturday, Sep. 17. The run will begin at the Daniel Island fire station on Seven Farms Drive. The opening ceremony starts at 8:00 a.m. and the runners will take off at 8:30 a.m. In 2021, more than 60,000 individuals from around the country participated in the 9/11 Heroes race. (ABC NEWS 4)
