Understanding that there would be a need for housing for veterans returning home after WWII, prominent trial lawyer and senator, John Charles Long, formed The Beach Company in 1945 and became a real estate developer, purchasing all the undeveloped land on the Isle of Palms, with a plan to offer low-cost housing to returning soldiers. In the process, he became a leader in promoting tourism and a major contributor to such things as the Isle of Palms Beach and Racquet Club which later became Wild Dunes Resort. After developing the entire Kiawah Island in 1988, The Beach Company came back north and created Seaside Farms, a very popular residential and retail community.

Seaside Farms is one of Mt. Pleasant’s more prominent neighborhoods, with exceptional housing and incredible conveniences.
