🌱 Dashcam Footage Of Memorial Day Shooting + Drainage Project Update

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Charleston.

(Patch Media)

Hi all. I'm back with your new copy of the Charleston Daily. Let's get this weekend started off right, with a quick dive into everything you need to know about what's going on around town.

First, today's weather:

A shower and t-storm; humid. High: 87 Low: 77.

Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. Newly released dashcam footage reveals a new angle of the Memorial Day mass shooting that occurred in downtown Charleston. During the incident, 12 people were injured - three of them were law enforcement. The incident is still under investigation by the Charleston Police Department. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. Charleston's Spring-Fishburne drainage project is reportedly 10 years delayed and $44 million over the proposed budget. The project is the city's largest and most expensive flood prevention measure yet. The project has a new completion date of 2024. When completed, it will be able to siphon 6,000 gallons of water per second. The impact of the project will hopefully be worth the wait and price tag. (Charleston Post Courier)
  3. A firework was mistaken as a stick of dynamite in a James Island home on Thursday. Law enforcement responded to the explosive around 6 p.m. in the 700 block of Leafwood Rd. The road was shut down while the bomb squad investigated the incident. (Live 5 News WCSC)
