Young Lawyers Helped Students Register to Vote
Members of the S.C. Bar Young Lawyers Division helped 50 West Ashley High School students register to vote for their first election this November

Members of the S.C. Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) helped students at West Ashley High School register to vote on Thursday, Sept. 27, as part of the American Voter Project rollout in South Carolina.
Attorney volunteers guided approximately 50 students through the registration process while explaining the importance of voting and being an active member of society. YLD attorney volunteers included Steven Bell, Ann Urquhart Bell, Evan Guthrie, Tim Muller, Elizabeth Palmer and Jane Stiegman.
"I am thrilled that South Carolina’s young lawyers were able to help students register to vote and encourage them to get involved in the election process," said Elizabeth Palmer, project coordinator for the Charleston event. "Through the American Bar Association’s American Voter project, we had the opportunity to educate students about the heroic efforts of generations of Americans that guaranteed the right to vote."
