SC man dies after overnight shooting in Columbia, police say (thestate.com) — A man has died after being found shot in a crashed vehicle at the Colony Apartments on Bailey Street in Columbia, and police are still piecing together what happened. Columbia Police and Richland County deputies are investigating, while the coroner will release the victim's name later; anyone with information is urged to contact CrimeStoppers.
2. How SC middle schoolers raised hundreds of thousands to assist during 9/11 (wistv.com) — A former White Knoll Middle School student is back in the Columbia area to remember how his Lexington classmates raised more than $500,000 after 9/11 to buy a fire truck for a Brooklyn firehouse. He'll join others at a "South Carolina Remembers 9/11: 25 Years Later" forum at 12:30 p.m. at the South Carolina State Museum, reflecting on that gift and its lasting impact.
3. South Carolina Lottery Powerball, Pick 3 results for Sept. 12, 2026 (greenvilleonline.com) — If you bought a lottery ticket in Columbia, you can now check the Sept. 12 Powerball, Pick 3, Pick 4, Cash Pop, and Palmetto Cash 5 numbers and see if you've won. The South Carolina Education Lottery explains exactly how Columbia-area winners should claim prizes, from quick payouts at retailers to big jackpots handled at the Assembly Street headquarters.
4. Vicari Swain returns 2 punts for TDs as South Carolina routs Towson (statenews.net) — South Carolina football fans in Columbia saw a dominant Gamecocks win as Vicari Swain returned two punts for touchdowns in a 45–9 rout of Towson at Williams-Brice. Local favorite LaNorris Sellers added 119 rushing yards and a score in a weather-delayed, rain-soaked home game that showcased explosive special teams and a stifling defense.
