Today's riddle: Why did the man leave his watch in the bank? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Sonic Near Tega Cay Shuts Down As Building Is Sealed And Listed (fortmillsun.com) — The Sonic Drive-In on Highway 160 in Fort Mill, just outside Tega Cay, has abruptly closed, with windows boarded, the lot fenced off, and the property now listed for sale or lease. Nearby residents are being redirected to other Sonic locations as questions remain about whether the building will be reused or redeveloped along the busy corridor.
2. Injured puppy and stray cat top this week's adoption list at York County shelter (fortmillsun.com) — If you're looking to adopt in Fort Mill, the Humane Society of York County is spotlighting Don Julio, an FIV-positive but affectionate young cat, and Geo, a recovering puppy who's healed from hip surgery. Both are ready for homes at the Regent Parkway shelter, which also needs local volunteers, foster families, donations, and shoppers at its Pawsibilities thrift store on Carolina Place.
3. Fort Mill group asks judge for restraining orders against Silfab, York County (heraldonline.com) — A Fort Mill-based citizens group is asking a judge to restrict Silfab Solar's operations at its U.S. 21 plant, citing hazardous chemical use near nearby schools and neighborhoods in Fort Mill and Charlotte. The group wants York County to limit the site to warehousing and offices while appeals play out, after earlier chemical leaks temporarily closed Flint Hill Elementary.
4. Many Rock Hill region schools aced their SC tests. See how every one of them did (heraldonline.com) — New statewide test data shows Fort Mill schools still ranking among South Carolina's best, with most local elementary and all middle schools landing in the top statewide tiers. Area districts like Lancaster and Clover are also closing the gap, giving Fort Mill families more high-performing options across nearby communities.
