5 Things: Manatee, Mugshots and Greenview Burglary

Good Thursday morning. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. A manatee was found dead in Lake Marion. It was certainly a long, but not unprecedented journey for the manatee as it travelled through Berkeley County. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

2. We've got a new batch of mugshots from over the weekend, including several suspects arrested for carjacking. We've noticed an increase in shoplifting — it must be that time of year.

3. An attempted burglary in the Greenview subdivision was thwarted by a neighbor's dog.

4. A story from earlier in the week about Gov. Nikki Haley's overseas trips has sparked a lot of conversation in the comments section.

5. The Berkeley County School District is hosting a Parent Talk Session on Thursday night at Sedgefiled Middle School. A speaker will be giving tips on homework help and reading at home.
