Accidental Fire Displaces Four Families

Five at Shannon Park sent to hospital with smoke irritation.

An accidental fire at Shannon Park Apartments early Wednesday morning was caused by a candle, according to the City of Goose Creek Fire Department.

The fire was contained to a bedroom and closet in a second floor apartment, but there was some smoke and water damage elsewhere in the building.

There were no major injuries, but five people were sent to the hospital with smoke irritation.

The American Red Cross reports that four families were displaced due to the fire damage, including seven adults and eight children.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance to replace food and clothing, as well as temporary housing and comfort kits, which includes toiletries and other necessary items.
