Goose Creek grandsons compete in Junior Olympics

In July and August 2012 Parsippany based Morris County Track Club (MCTC) successfully competed in two Junior Olympics held by two different associations  in two different states.  

Baltimore, MD, July 28, 2012 at Morgan State University: Twelve-year-old Matias Pellegrino of Denville, New Jersey placed second in the Midget Boys Long Jump at the 2012 United States Track and Field National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships held in Baltimore, MD (July 23 - 29, 2012). Morgan State University was host to this 7-day competition with nearly 8,000 participants!  Matias Pellegrino’s jump of 5.22 meters (17-01.50) earned Matias the silver medal (2nd Place Overall) ranked #2 in the U.S.A. for (midget level classification).


Earlier this summer (June 9, 2012) at the 2012 USAT&F NJ Junior Olympic T&F Championships held in Palisades Park, New Jersey, Overpeck Park Matias won 1st place in the Midget Boys Long Jump with a NJ state record jump of 5.18 meters (17 feet).

Humble, TX, August 2, 2012 at Turner Stadium:Thirteen-year-old Elorm Akasreku of Landing, New Jersey placed third in the sub-youth boys long jump at the 2012 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympic Games held in Humble, TX, at Turner Stadium.  Elorm’s personal best of 18'.09.25" (Long Jump) earned him a Bronze medal (3rd Place Overall). Elorm is ranked #3 in the U.S.A. for (AAU sub-youth level classification). Elorm also competed in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. The AAU Junior Olympic Games is the largest multi-sport event for youth in the United States. The AAU Junior Olympic Games hosts over 17,000 participants in over 15 sports.

Join MCTC in congratulating Elorm and the entire Akasreku family.

 

Eight-year old R.J. Workman and his brother, twelve-year old Desmond Workman of Parsippany, New Jersey competed at the 2012 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympic Games held in Humble, TX, at Turner Stadium.  R. J. competed in the sub bantam boys 100-meter dash and long jump. Desmond competed in the midget boys 6 lbs. shot put. Neither advanced to the finals however, both competed well and join the ranks of MCTC 2012 Junior Olympians. The AAU Junior Olympic Games is the largest multi-sport event for youth in the United States. The AAU Junior Olympic Games hosts over 17,000 participants in over 15 sports.
