Laureate Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi

Laureate Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority honored their 2011-2012 Woman of the Year, Linda Allen, with a special dinner last week at California Dreaming.  This award is given annually to a member who has taken went above her normal r responsibilities of membership in Beta Sigma Phi.  Linda is quick to volunteer her home when needed for an event and also puts extra efforts into everything she does from the meals she prepares to the programs she presents.  She truly exemplified the ideals and purpose of her sorority. 

Linda joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1971 and is very active not only in her current chapter but also helped out the social chairman of the Greater Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma with functions this year.  She has perfect attendance since joining Laureate Zeta in Feb. 2009.  She is eligible for her next degree, the Master Degree (6^th degree) she will receive it in November.

Linda is a retired school teacher who enjoys reading and has an award winning talent at scrapbooking.

Her awards include; 2008-2009 3^rd place Scrapbook at Greater Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi and 2^nd place Scrapbook at Beta Sigma Phi’s Carolina’s Convention

Linda is from South Dakota but grew up in Nebraska.  She is married to Ed Allen, whom is employed with Boeing Aircraft and they are both Big Cornhusker fans.  She is the mother of eight with seven grandchildren.  Her sorority sisters say she is an inspiration and are proud to call her their 2011-2012 Woman of the Year.

Beta Sigma Phi, is an International social sorority and is a by invitation only group with nine chapters in the Greater Charleston area. The purpose is to provide women social activities, service opportunities and cultural projects of all kinds.

It is not a secret group, nor is it connected with any school or college, and is non-political and non-sectarian.  Members are women of all ages, from all walks of life. Beta Sigma Phi has a membership of more than165,000 women in over 20 countries throughout the world.

Chapters donate between 200 and 300,000 hours of time each year to charitable organizations and raise more than $2 million yearly.
