Assault Charges After Collision Near City Hall

Suspect allegedly hit victim's car.

A car chase early Sunday ended in 1st degree assault and battery charges after a collision near City Hall.

The 19-year-old victim told police he was sitting in his Honda Civic with his girlfriend at her Liberty Hall Plantation home when the suspect, 19-year-old Isaiah Everett Cheeseborough, pulled up and allegedly began staring at them.

The victim said he began to drive away and Cheeseborough followed. As the couple left Liberty Hall Plantation, they claim the suspect rear-ended the car with his Cadillac Deville.

As the victim drove toward City Hall. The victim and a witness standing in the parking lot state that when the Civic tried to turn into the City Hall parking lot, Cheeseborough swerved and struck the driver side of the victim's car.

Officers later found the driver's side mirror at the entrance of the City Hall parking lot.

Cheeseborough told police that the victim sideswiped his vehicle and he only hit the Civic in retaliation. But police claim the damage to the vehicles didn't match his description of the incident.
