Attempted Murder Suspect Extradited to Berkeley Jail

According to police, Morgan allegedly threatened her with a knife, sexually assaulted and beat her, before fleeing the scene. The victim had non-life-threatening injures and was recovering at MUSC as of Jan. 30.Â

Morgan is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, first degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and burglary. He was detained in Richland County pending extradition until late Friday. WCBD News 2 reports that Smith was given a $1 million bond.
Officers arrived at the home around 8:45 a.m. Sunday and said they found the victim sitting in the foyer of the home.

Investigators believe Morgan tied the victim up with clothes hangers and strips of a towel. The victim told police that Morgan beat her with his fists and sexually assaulted her at knife point. She said he left near sunrise. She was able to get free and crawl down the stairs.
While processing the scene, police also found a hole in the wall near the base of the stairwell and blood splatters and stains on the floor and on the stairs.
