Baseball, Softball Tournaments Begin

Stratford's softball team defeated West Florence, 6-1, on Wednesday, the first round of postseason play in baseball and softball for our four local high schools.

The Goose Creek girls lost to South Florence, 5-1, in the first round of the double elimination tournament in AAAA District 8.

The rest of the tournament action begins tonight. Here's a rundown:

Baseball

• Goose Creek travels to Conway tonight for the first round of AAAA District 8 competition.
• Cane Bay hosts Georgetown tonight for the first game in AAA District 7 action.
• Hanahan will welcome Barnwell to Hawk country for the first game in the AA District 6.

Softball

• Stratford will travel to play White Knoll in the next round at 7 p.m. Friday in AAAA District 5.
• Goose Creek will play Saturday against the losing team in tonight's Summerville/South Aiken game.
• Cane Bay will visit Georgetown tonight for the first round in AAA District 7.
• Hanahan will host Pelion tonight for the first game in the AA District 6 tournament.
